I am currently in my third year as Public Information Officer for Danville Public Schools in south central Virginia, the same division I graduated from. I lead a team of three that is responsible for all internal and external communications, including social media, website, video, newsletters, and publications.
In my time at Danville Public Schools, I have lead a new website design and launch, developed the district's first Communications Plan, and launched a podcast with our superintendent. Our small department is focused on pointed, meaningful communication and increasing parent and stakeholder involvement.
I am a 2018 graduate of Averett University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Journalism. Prior to coming to Danville Public Schools, I was a reporter for a local newspaper, where I covered government, human interest stories, and education, which started my interest in K-12 public education.
On a personal note, I love my community and the city in which I was born and raised. It's my personal goal to serve the school division that gave me so much and change minds about public education. In my (very little) free time, I love traveling, visiting breweries and wineries, and live music.
