Ethical challenges in school communication rarely announce themselves as ethical challenges. More often, they appear as difficult decisions, competing priorities, incomplete information, or situations where the "right" answer isn't immediately obvious. In this session, participants will explore practical frameworks for thinking through complex situations and making sound professional judgments. Through discussion, reflection, and real-world scenarios, attendees will examine common ethical tensions, consider the obligations they hold to the public, their organization, and themselves, and develop a personal approach to navigating difficult decisions. Participants will leave with a practical decision-making framework, a set of guiding questions they can apply to future situations, and greater confidence in navigating ambiguity when the path forward isn't clear.
