My current role as Communications Director for a small public school district is a third (or fourth?) act in my professional career. After college, I taught preschool and was a center director for years until my younger son had medical issues that required me to stay home. I began doing writing and website building/editing for the private chain of early childhood centers where I had taught and directed. While doing those tasks from home, i kept the books for a family business and began writing books for children and teachers. I'm the author of eight books for young children (most recently Digger, Dozer, Dumper, illustrated by David Slonim and published by Candlewick), one for teachers (Weaving the Literacy Web, by Redleaf Press) and I edited and updated a classic rhyming dictionary (Nothing Rhymes with Orange by Perigee). I've been Communications Director for Dexter Schools since 2015 and love this job, which combines some of the best parts of all my previous positions and gives me additional creative outlets.
